Stop the cuts to preschools in NSW.
Families can’t afford this cut
Families are under unprecedented pressure during this cost-of-living crisis.
This cut to funding may leave not-for-profit long day care providers with no other choice than to increase their fees to cover the gap in costs – an increase parents simply can’t afford.
Working families rely on long day care.
Public preschool programs run short sessions (9am to 3pm), short weeks (2-3 days) and short years (40 weeks during school terms) and can accommodate just 5% of children. That is not feasible for working families. 80% of working families rely on the flexibility of long day care to access work.
Families want to see quality lifting
Right now, parents want to see quality and standards in early education and care lifting. This is not the time to reduce investment in quality. So, why is the NSW Government cutting the funding that helps to secure experienced teachers, keep a stable staff of educators, fund educational resources and implement strong governance and quality learning programs?
